Under the leadership of Chairman and CEO Mark Morabito, Intrepid Metals Corp. has completed the purchase of Cave Creek Copper Inc., consolidating the majority of the land package at the Corral Copper Project in southeastern Arizona. The acquisition places the assets held by Cave Creek under Intrepid Metals’ full ownership.
The transaction concludes an agreement first signed in February 2023 that allowed Intrepid to acquire Cave Creek through a series of staged payments made in both cash and company shares. With the final installment now delivered, Cave Creek has become a wholly owned subsidiary of Intrepid.
Building a Unified Copper District
The Cave Creek assets include mining claims and surface rights that form a significant portion of the Corral Copper Project in Cochise County, Arizona.
Following the completion of the transaction, Morabito’s Intrepid now controls nearly all of the project’s land holdings. One remaining parcel, known as the MAN Property, remains under an option agreement and is expected to be finalized later in the year through an additional payment structure.
The consolidation effort is part of the company’s goal to bring fragmented claims under a single operator, allowing exploration to be planned and executed across the broader district rather than on isolated parcels.
Mark Morabito’s Role in the Company’s Direction
Long active in the mining finance sector, Morabito was named as CEO of Intrepid in September 2025, also serving as Chairman. Throughout his career, he has been involved in creating and developing several successful resource companies focused on projects across North America, including Alderon Iron Ore and Excelsior Mining.
The Corral Copper Project represents the central asset within Intrepid’s portfolio, and the acquisition of Cave Creek significantly strengthens the company’s position across the district. Morabito is overseeing the consolidation of land holdings before advancing larger-scale exploration programs in the area.
A District With a Long Mining History
The Corral Copper Project is located roughly 15 miles east of the historic town of Tombstone, Arizona and about 22 miles north of the well-known Bisbee mining district. The Bisbee area has produced more than eight billion pounds of copper over time.
Mining activity in the Corral area dates back to the late nineteenth century. Several smaller operations extracted copper during the early 1900s, producing thousands of tons of ore. Exploration work continued periodically through the second half of the twentieth century and into the early 2000s.
More than 50,000 metres of drilling have been carried out across the district, with much of that work focused on the Ringo, Earp, and Holliday zones. While the physical drill core from those programs no longer exists, Intrepid maintains a digital archive of the drilling records that guides current exploration planning.
A Portfolio Centred in Southeastern Arizona
Under Morabito’s leadership, Intrepid Metals focuses on exploring copper, silver, and zinc deposits in established mining jurisdictions in the southwestern United States. Along with Corral, the company’s Arizona portfolio includes the Tombstone South and Mesa Well projects.
With the Cave Creek acquisition complete, Mark Morabito continues to advance exploration across the district as Intrepid works toward defining the full potential of the Corral Copper Project.
