On August 12, the dispatch ceremony for SANY’s autonomous mining trucks was held at the Shenyang Industrial Park of SANY Heavy Equipment. The first batch of SKT110Ei pure-electric autonomous mining trucks rolled out of the park, soon to be shipped overseas. SANY says it also marks its first autonomous mining truck project to land in South America, which also signals the official entry of Chinese autonomous mining technology into the Latin American market – which it described as “a milestone of strategic significance.”

Constrained by chronic shortages of professional mining drivers and rising labour costs, SANY says the customer urgently needed to transition to intelligent operations, exploring autonomous driving as a solution to operational challenges and a means to optimise productivity. “Following an exhaustive evaluation of multiple global industry leaders, they ultimately selected SANY and adopted a comprehensive autonomous driving total solution.”

The delivered scope covers autonomous mining trucks, supporting dispatch systems, and operational maintenance services. “Addressing the customer’s unique haulage scenarios in an overseas mining operation, the SANY project team conducted an in-depth analysis of core pain points – safety production, cost reduction and efficiency improvement, and personnel risk management. By integrating the tripartite strengths of equipment manufacturing, technology development, and on-site overseas support, the team delivered a customized solution, leveraging SANY’s proven track record in domestic mining operations to dispel any customer concerns.”

It says securing this first autonomous mining truck project in South America is not only a testament to SANY Group’s decades of brand reputation, global footprint, and high-end manufacturing capabilities, “but also a natural outcome of the Group’s long-term commitment, technological accumulation, and extensive field validation in autonomous mining.”

It added: “As a leader in the autonomous mining truck sector, SANY Intelligent Mining, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SANY International, has been dedicated since its inception to building ‘digital, green, and intelligent mines.’ With 100% proprietary core technologies, the company has established a full-industry-chain technological advantage – covering wire-controlled chassis, multi-sensor fusion perception, AI decision-making algorithms, and cloud-based intelligent dispatching platforms.”

The AHS market in China today is still dominated by third party specialists – notably EACON Mining, CiDi and TAGE Idriver – however the truck OEMs themselves are also refining and developing their own solutions to allow them to deliver a complete package to the customer.

As of July 2026, SANY Intelligent Mining says it has deployed more than 300 autonomous mining trucks, with scaled commercial operations covering major open-pit mines in Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Qinghai, and other regions across China. The cumulative safe operation mileage exceeds 13 million kilometres, with over 41 million cubic metres of earth and rock moved – fully validating the maturity and reliability of the technology under diverse and challenging working conditions.

The SKT110Ei pure-electric autonomous mining truck dispatched in this project SANY says features high reliability, high availability, and low energy consumption. Equipped with a fully proprietary autonomous driving system, it effectively reduces mining operating costs, enhances operational efficiency, and fundamentally transforms traditional mining practices.

Looking ahead, SANY Intelligent Mining “will leverage this project as a launchpad to expand into global markets, backed by SANY’s worldwide service network to deliver technical support and operational assurance, ensuring efficient project implementation and stable performance.
