NioCorp Developments Ltd. welcomed U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright, Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) Chairman and President John Jovanovic, Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen, U.S. Senators Deb Fischer (R-NE) and Pete Ricketts (R-NE) and Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) to the company’s Elk Creek Critical Minerals Project mine site in southeast Nebraska on Wednesday, October 14.
The officials delivered remarks, toured the construction underway at the Elk Creek mine site and received briefings from NioCorp leadership on its planned critical mineral products. During the visit, NioCorp CEO Mark A. Smith and Jovanovic also signed a Letter of Support for Elk Creek.
The visit comes as EXIM continues its review of NioCorp’s application for potential debt financing for the Elk Creek project under EXIM’s Make More in America initiative. NioCorp plans to produce niobium, scandium, titanium, and several magnetic rare earth elements at the Elk Creek project, materials used across automotive, aerospace, energy, advanced manufacturing and defense applications.
“We’re extremely proud of what we’re building in Nebraska, and we couldn’t be happier to welcome Chairman Jovanovic, Secretary Wright, Governor Pillen, Senators Fischer and Ricketts and Congressman Smith to the Elk Creek project,” said Mark A. Smith, executive chairman and CEO of NioCorp. “This visit gives us the opportunity to show them firsthand the progress underway at the site, introduce them to some of the people helping us advance this effort and discuss what Elk Creek can mean for American critical mineral security, manufacturing and jobs.”
