Metso to acquire key Flowrox™ mining peristaltic and cavity pump technologies from Valmet

    Publicado em

Metso has signed an agreement to acquire peristaltic hose pump and progressive cavity pump technologies, as well as related aftermarket spare parts and service offering capabilities, from Valmet, a global technology leader in serving process industries.

The acquisition strengthens Metso’s capabilities in slurry handling by broadening its portfolio with advanced pumping solutions for demanding process conditions in mining and industrial applications. The acquired business has a solid and growing installed base, generating stable aftermarket spare parts and service revenues.

The added hose pump technologies are particularly well suited for transferring and dosing of abrasive, corrosive, viscous and crystallising slurries in heavy mining applications where continuous flow, reliable performance, efficiency, ease of maintenance, and long wear life are critical. Typical applications include thickener underflow, filter feed, flocculant dosing, slurry sampling and re-circulation.

With this acquisition, Metso enhances its ability to deliver comprehensive slurry handling and pumping solutions across the full mining flowsheet. The acquisition is expected to close on October 1, 2026. The parties have agreed not to disclose the transaction value. The acquisition has no material impact on Metso’s financial performance.

“We are excited to welcome the new offerings as well as the team and their expertise to Metso. This acquisition strengthens our ability to deliver end-to-end slurry handling solutions, with stronger and complementing offering in demanding heavy-duty applications. In addition, it enhances our aftermarket and service capabilities as a long-term full lifecycle partner in key mining markets globally,” says Tiago Marques Oliveira, Vice President, Pumps Business Line, Metso.

The acquired products will be integrated into Metso’s pumps portfolio and rebranded under the Metso name. The products are currently sold under the Flowrox brand. Production will be transferred to Metso’s manufacturing facilities in Lappeenranta, Finland, with related personnel transferring to the same site.

Metso offers complete slurry handling solutions, including equipment, spare parts, optimisation, and maintenance services. Its portfolio covers slurry pumps, pipes, hoses, valves, and hydrocyclones, supported by a global manufacturing and service network close to key mining markets.

As background, Neles completed the purchase of Flowrox’s valve and pump operations in late 2021 to expand in mining and metals. Neles then merged with Valmet in April 2022 and became Valmet’s Flow Control Business Line. Flowrox is currently based in its own Lappeenranta site and originated over 40 years ago in Finland as part of Larox, specialising in heavy-duty pinch valves and pumps for abrasive and corrosive processes. Outotec Oyj (later to join Metso to form Metso Outotec and then becoming just Metso) acquired Larox Oyj in 2011, but the pump and valve division (Larox Flowsys) was excluded from the transaction. Flowsys then became Flowrox in 2012.
