REMA TIP TOP has introduced the latest version of its mobile condition monitoring solution for conveyor rollers, MCube RFP Mobile 2.0, looking to provide maintenance teams with the tools to identify potential issues early and make informed decisions based on precise condition data.
Approximately 75% of all mechanical faults on conveyor systems are caused by roller failures, according to the company, with these failures often leading
to unplanned production downtime, increased energy costs and safety risks.
MCube RFP Mobile 2.0 features a compact design, improved usability, intelligent diagnostic technology and automated reporting, making maintenance processes more efficient and increasing system availability, according to REMA TIP TOP.
Modern conveyor systems face constant cost challenges because even brief periods of downtime can result in significant expenses. In fact, rollers account for about 40% of a conveyor belt’s energy consumption. Early bearing wear increases rolling resistance, and a blocked roller can double energy consumption. Nevertheless, maintenance in many facilities remains reactive, with inspections often performed only after damage or failure has occurred, the company says.
MCube RFP Mobile 2.0 provides a decisive advantage in this regard, REMA TIP TOP claims, allowing maintenance teams to identify potential issues early and make informed decisions based on precise condition data.
With dimensions of just 105 × 40 × 25 mm, the device easily fits into a pocket, making it ideal for flexible use across a wide range of conveyor systems. Its high-brightness colour touchscreen ensures readability, even in demanding environments, while large, intuitive buttons allow for easy operation with bare hands, lightweight work gloves, or a stylus. A specially designed power switch prevents accidental activation during daily use.
This dust- and splash-resistant device has a long-lasting battery with USB-C charging and a battery level indicator, ensuring uninterrupted operation throughout the workday, the company says.
The analysis algorithm of MCube RFP Mobile 2.0 has been validated using hundreds of measurements from real conveyor systems. More than 250 measurements can be completed during a single inspection cycle.
Using the accompanying MCube RFP Mobile Manager software, measurement data can be transferred via USB-C and automatically converted into standardised inspection reports. The reports classify each inspected roller frame using a traffic light system (“OK”, “OBSERVE” and “NOT OK”) and include additional information such as the inspection date, technician, customer, conveyor ID and the total number of measurements.
Daniel Kasperek, Vice President Engineering at REMA TIP TOP, said:“ With MCube RFP Mobile 2.0, we have enhanced our proven mobile solution by incorporating extensive feedback from colleagues who use the system in the field. The result is a compact, robust and intuitive device that provides precise condition data and enables maintenance teams to make informed decisions on site.”
MCube RFP Mobile 2.0 offers system operators reduced maintenance and energy costs, as well as increased conveyor system availability, the company claims. As part of the comprehensive MCube portfolio, the system complements solutions for belt thickness measurement, belt rip detection and steel
cord inspection, enabling integrated maintenance concepts that combine efficiency, safety and sustainability.
